KOPANO FC 0 -
BEVENDEAN BARCELONA 2
Sunday January 29th 2012
Following the Kopano comeback from the previous week, the
anticipation in the dressing room was high with a squad of 16.
The Coach asked for the team to get to half time having conceded no
goals and to the credit of all involved that's exactly what was
achieved with the half time score being 0-0. The first time this
season Kopano had not conceded a goal in the first half. Early
pressure was received from a very mobile Bevendean midfield but
after some early exchanges Kopano began to make some goal scoring
chances too.
A couple of goal attempts from distance did not trouble the Kopano defence what was more threatening was the pace of their forwards which could only be countered by close marking. Half time found Kopano in good spirits with all to play for. After a sense that Kopano were beginning to have a stronger influence on the game ten minutes into the second half Ali was brought on for Ade at right midfield. A direct free kick for Kopano 30 yards from goal was hit straight the wall the resulting counter attack found the two Kopano centre halves colliding with one another leaving the Bevendean striker totally alone with just the goalkeeper to beat (comedy of errors). This prompted the substitution of Omar Selma replacing Alex Sampson. This made an immediate improvement to the Kopano forward momentum. A number of half chances were created together with an open goal effort which was put wide by an off balanced Omar. The last ten minutes saw the return of Ross Flynn replacing Wayne James (Coach). Ross being one of the original players from the founded Kopano squad in 2007. Despite the continued efforts Kopano seem to not have enough left in the tank to equalise and our fate was sealed when a speculative shot deceived the Kopano keeper who had previously made no major errors to put the visitors two up. The game finished shortly afterwards. Overall a good team performance and a big improvement on previous weeks. With Sundays game having been called off Kopano next game will be away to Hollingbury FC at Braypool. Man Of The Match: Arney Fombasso |
